What is the Vaptio Captn Kit
Vaptio have released their new kit in their series of Hero range which started with the webcrawler , then the SuperBat and now finally the Vaptio Capt’n. The kit is designed to be an easily recognizable design combined with functionality and performance, something that is leaps and bounds from their previous products released. Is this the kit that finally gets them into the mass market and into the consumers thoughts?
Vaptio Captn Kit Explained
The Vaptio capt’n is a small and light device, measuring a total of 122 mm from drip tip to base and comes with a 1.3 inch tft colour screen. the design is IML moulded design in 6 different colours with a Zinc alloy frame. It comes with a bottom hinge battery door and front design firing button in tune with the name, a star. The tank comes with a 4 mil capacity with frogman w8 and w2 coils (or new mesh coils with the paragon kit) and features a 510 pin, 25mm tank and 810 replaceable drip tip.

The Vaptio Captn Tank
The tank comes with 2 different glass capacity options in box and two different coil options. The tank has a top fill mechanism with a screw top with 2 x kidney hole design. It has bottom airflow ring which is detachable for cleaning, and aforementioned 25 mm base, 810 detachable drip tip and 510 pin. the tank performs well with liquid giving a nice flavour and decent vapour production, but not equal to the recommended 80w i used it on. The vape was very enjoyable however and packaged with the mod it served to be a very good companion considering the matching colour. Although not a rival to leading market tanks, the Capt’n tank is a well made solid tank that performs well despite it not delivering what you would expect.
The Capt’n Mod comes with a beautiful IML printed design although a little bit of a fingerprint magnet due to the style of printing. It has the star fire button located above the screen and two imprinted navigation buttons featured underneath the screen. the battery hinge door is nice and loose and secure when closed to prevent any batteries escaping. the menu system can be navigated by 3 clicks and buttons for navigation with the fire button used to select options. It has a anti leak technology around the 510 connector to prevent liquid entering the device and features a 0.005 second fire-rate combined with a .1 resistance in bypass mode. The device comes with 6 output modes and 2 different colour screen designs and both a sleep and shut down timed options to customise from 1 – 360 seconds. It is firmware upgradable and features a quick charge via USB (although highly recommended an external charger is used)
Overall thoughts of the Vaptio Capt’n Kit
Overall my view of the Capt’n kit was wow, from the moment I opened the box. the size of the device for a dual 18650 is the smallest I have seen, smaller than the Skystar even. Most of the weight of the device comes from the dual 18650 batteries. Performance wise I have had no issues, the mod has worked great and the tank as provided good flavour if a little lacking on vapour production. The size makes it a great device to take out without feeling bulky and battery life will last until the next day with regular use, even longer with shorter shut down options selected. It is very easy to use and looks great as well.
Faults with the Vaptio Capt’n Kit
The few cons I have revolve around what stops this being a truly great kit. As mentioned the vapour production at 80w does not feel like the coils are providing that and as such doesn’t feel like it is optimising the power output. The fire button area is larger than the actual button so it is possible to fire the mod underneath the button, although I have had no experience of firing this way. The imprinted buttons also are a little hard to press due to the way they have been added, which makes locking the device a little difficult. However the counter to this will be no accidental button presses when in your pocket. The final con in my experience is the battery level when they need charging. Once the vape level drops below the amount to fire, it works out on test at 3.48 which is quite high in my experience. Hopefully this can be fixed through a firmware update as the additional .18 v could mean another hour vaping time.
The Vaptio Capt'n is a great little kit that almost matches the big boys of the market. The kit shows that Vaptio are making strides to becoming a company to take notice of, with many improvements to their products from their old range. It is a good investment at the right price point but it falls short in getting everything right but does the job really well
- Small design
- Great menu options
- Many firing modes
- Nice design
- Coils provide nice flavour
- Fire area not solely on button.
- Design attracts fingerprints
- Navigation buttons are poorly designed
- Only 2 screen colour designs
- Hinge door is fiddely to close
